Implementing The Employment Act 1955 (2022) Amendment

The Employment Amendments Act 2022 was enforced on 1 January 2023. The 2022 amendment covers a wide range of revisions including new introductions that will affect employers such as flexible work arrangements, forced labour provisions and paternity leave. The amendment will also see an enhancement in maternity allowance and a reduction of work hours and an expansion of the scope of overtime entitlement and enhancement of hospitalisation leave. The penalty for offenses is increased as well. Employers would need to ensure their policies and practices meet these provisions and tweak their operational arrangement, among others, such as in work hour revision. The implementation of the minimum wage order 2022 saw increased labour cost by about 26% and these new amendments are expected to further increase the labour cost at a minimum of 6%. This workshop intends to equip employers on the changes and assist companies in implementing them.
