Prevention and Elimination of Forced Labour & Preparing for RBA Audit

Forced labour is among the current burning issues affecting Malaysian manufacturers that employ migrant workers in their manufacturing or plantations or any industries. Companies that must comply may face scrutiny by the buyers/clients and foreign governments, ie. US Customs and Border Protection (US-CBP). Losing a client or a contract can be a costly affair. However, it’s important to note that compliance with international standards, while it may seem challenging, is not as complex as it’s often perceived. With a clear and deep understanding of these standards and practical steps to meet them, companies can navigate these requirements with confidence.

The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), formerly the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), Code of Conduct establishes standards to ensure that working conditions in the electronics industry or industries in which electronics is a key component and its supply chains are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that business operations are environmentally responsible and conducted ethically. Considered as part of the electronics industry for purposes of this Code are all organizations that may design, market, manufacture, or provide goods and services that are used to produce electronic goods. Compliance with RBA requirements benefits the company by providing a stable and motivated workforce and potential business opportunities with major multinational corporations (MNCs). This course will guide participants to understand the RBA components first and then conduct internal audits based on the RBA compliance requirements. This module will cover the latest RBA Version 8.0.
