Employment Act and Its Amendment, Sarawak and Sabah Labour Ordinance for HR Practitioners
The roles played by HR Practitioners in understanding the Human Resources Policies and Procedures is crucial in any organisation. The ability to address the disciplinary issue at the earliest stage is important as it deals directly with their subordinates or employees.
The Employment Act 1955 forms the primary legislation (Statute) on employment in Malaysia, providing guidelines on minimum employment rules, within which to operate businesses. This Act ensures good relationship development between employers and their employees; besides nurturing growth, progress and industrial harmony for the organisation. From 2007, the Human Resources Ministry has been studying and reviewing to amend 2 major laws in an effort to keep up with managing industrial harmony.
In comparison, Sarawak Labour Ordinance Chapter 76 and Sabah Labour Ordinance Chapter 67 are still in the process of amendment to align with EA 1955. This training will focus on basic understanding for comparison.
