Saravanan: Govt to ensure workforce, talents are well-developed

THE government is committed to make sure that the country’s workforce and talents are well-developed, as it is an essential component of the current economic climate.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan said the human resource industry plays a crucial role and will be the driving force of the future of work and the nation’s economic progress.
“To that end, the government is committed to ensuring that our workforce and talents are effectively nurtured and developed.
“This must be supported by businesses and industries,” he said at the pre-launch of the National Human Capital Conference and Exhibition (NHCCE) 2022 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Human Resource Development Corp (HRD Corp) announced that the human capital conference is back after a two-year hiatus.
Formerly known as the HRDF Conference and Exhibition, the conference has been HRD Corp’s annual flagship event since 2001.
Now in its 19th iteration, it has been rebranded to NHCCE 2022 and is set to take place on Nov 8 and Nov 9 this year, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.
According to Saravanan, the NHCCE 2022 will be a great platform to spark important conversations on what we can do together in order to drive workplace leadership, innovation and transformation.
He also noted that it will enable Malaysian industry players and leaders to network, share challenges and discuss solutions to their current and future human resource challenges.
Themed “HR 5.0: The Next Evolution in Human Resource Development”, the conference will feature six plenary tracks that aim to equip leaders, industry players, senior management, HR practitioners and working professionals with the skills and knowledge to champion the implementation of human capital transformation initiatives in their respective organisations.
It will also feature 30 renowned local and international speakers, and subject matter experts, as well as over 200 exhibitors from various industries.
The conference itself is expected to draw over 2,000 delegates from Malaysia and the region.
In another development, Saravanan said the Human Resources Ministry (MoHR) will present a full report on the entry of foreign workers to the National Recovery Council (MPN) soon to clarify the allegations of delays in their entry into the country.
He added that MoHR was updating the report based on the work it had carried out.
“Our representative in the MPN may not have informed the development of the entry of foreign workers to the chairman. We will present it to him soon,” he noted.
Previously, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin urged the government to speed up the process of bringing in foreign workers to overcome the labour shortage, especially in the micro, small and medium enterprises sector, and stated that the government’s delay in dealing with the issue would affect productivity in addition to slowing down the country’s recovery process.
Saravanan said the government has approved quotas for hiring foreign workers based on the requests of various sectors in the country and the next process is up to employers to speed up the hiring of foreign workers.
“The entry of foreign workers must go through various processes after getting approval from the government.
“MoHR has completed almost all the responsibilities to bring in foreign workers, but now we have to identify the cause of this delay,” he said.
